What is IUI?
IUI is one of the basic procedures to treat infertility.
In this process washed sperms from the male partner (or from a sperm donor when the male partner produces no sperms) are deposited in a woman’s uterus around the time of ovulation. Ovulation is monitored by transvaginal ultrasound. The sperm sample is introduced by a fine catheter inserted through the cervix (or mouth of the uterus). Directly into the uterus. IUI is generally done in case there is no pregnancy after natural intercourse or if the sperm count in the male partner is low.
